We are where we are

I am not big on drama. I was raised in a family that did not offer up fodder for soap opera fare. How do I explain that we went to NY to visit our grandson and his Aunt (and her family) who are raising him?

He's 3 1/2 years old and precious. We had a marvelous visit. Aunt/Mama did a great job preparing him for us. We had sent videos so he recognized us, but it was more than that. He knew us as his own grandparents.

We spent Saturday evening, all day Sunday, all day Monday together. He spent Sunday night with us in our hotel room. We were up at 5am this morning to head to the airport or we might have squeezed in one more night. What a joy!

Our daughter was apparently PO'd that we didn't buy her a plane ticket. Too bad. I am confident that our grandson is doing very well and is better off for being on the (nearly) opposite end of the country. She can only disrupt/rock the boat at this point. It seems harsh, I know. He is so sweet and so loving. We are blessed that things are working out so well, given the circumstances.

We are where we are. I am glad we are part of his life. Hopefully we have Skype working soon so we can video-call and stay in touch better than ever.

NOTE: I would not normally post such a journal/drama but this specific situation is part of this mother's angst.

Random note: I had totally forgotten that I was in Syracuse in '86 for my brother's wedding!!! What a dolt! My mom reminded me after I got home. BTW - in the spirit of confession, my life back then was probably the most soap-opera fodder the family'd had in a while.

Peace,
